Investigating the lifestyle of the elderly during the covid-19 pandemic and its relationship with demographic variables

and aim: With the spread of the Covid-19 disease, there were changes in the lifestyle of people, especially the elderly. Many factors such as age, gender, social status can affect people’s lifestyle choices. Therefore, this study was designed and implemented with the aim of determining the relationship between demographic characteristics in the elderly and lifestyle during the covid-19 pandemic. Material and methods: The current study is a cross-sectional, descriptive-analytical study. 259 elderly people were selected by random cluster sampling. The data of the study was collected using demographic information questionnaires and healthy lifestyle of the elderly. The data was analyzed by SPSS version 22 software. Results: The findings of this study showed that (89.2%) had an average lifestyle and (10.8%) had a favorable lifestyle. In multiple linear regression, an inverse and significant relationship was observed in men with the total score of lifestyle areas (beta =-2.4, CI-95%=-4.8 to .000, p=.05), while in the studied women there was a direct relationship and They showed significance with the total score of the lifestyle domains of the questionnaire (beta = 1.2, CI-95% = 0 to 2.4, p = .05). Conclusion: The majority of the elderly in this study had an average lifestyle during the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, the lifestyle of the elderly during the Covid-19 pandemic was dependent on demographic variables. It is recommended that the officials and politicians make more detailed plans to improve the lifestyle according to the demographic variables affecting the dimensions of the lifestyle of old age in crises and disasters.
