Persian Abstract
این پژوهش یک مطالعه غیر مداخله ای از نوع توصیفی و مقطعی بود که بمنظور تعیین شیوع استعمال دخانیات در بین دانش آموزان پسر سال سوم دبیرستانهای شهر خلخال و ارائه پیشنهادی آموزشی، پژوهش و کاربردی انجام شد. نمونه پژوهشی 260 نفر از دانش آموزان بود که به روش تصادفی ساده انتخاب شدند. ابزار گردآوری داده ها پرسشنامه خود ساخته با روایی و پایایی بود که شامل متغیرهای فردی مانند پایه تحصیلی، سن، شغل پدر، سابقه وجود سیگاری در خانواده، تجربه کردن سیگار، وظایف والدین و دولت و... بود.نتایج نشان داد که 104 نفر (40%)دانش آموزان مورد پژوهش سیگار کشیدن را تجربه کرده بودندو مجموعا 30% آنان بصورت تفننی، گاهگاهی و اغلب اوقات سیگار می کشند که در مقایسه با نتایج سایر پژوهشها رقم بالایی می باشد. افزایش محدودیت ها برای مصرف و عرصه، همکاری خانواده ها، علما، هنرمندان و ورزشکاران و رسانه های جمعی برای بیان ضرر و زیان سیگار، فراهم کردن زمینه کار و اشتغال برای بیکاران، گسترش آموزش عالی و.... از پیشنهادهای این پژوهش محسوب می شود.

English Abstract
a cross-sectional survey was conducted using a modified questionnaire for the study of cigarette prevalence in khalkhal city, Iran during may- June 1999. a simple random sample with size 260, was selected for this study . all of the students in the sample completed a questionnaire. the results showed among 260 students, 104(60%) never smoked cigarette,104 of them (40%) experienced at least once cigarette smoking and also, from 104 students who experienced smoking, 26 (25%) persons now are smoker, 48)46%( sometimes use cigarette , 18 person(17/3%)often use and 12 person( 11/5%) always smoke. thus, in comparison with other studies , cigarette smoking prevalence in this study is relatively high. the high prevalence of the cigarette smoking in this population is a warning to the government, parents, teacher, health staffs and other related specialists for planning and implementation for cigarette smoking control programs.
