A study of prevalence rate of right ventricular acute myocardial infarction in company with left ventricular acute inferior myocardial infarction in admitted patients in Ardabil Bouali Hospital

English Abstract

Introduction: With relative control of infectious diseases in recent decades, the cardiovascular diseases have been the majar causes of mortalities in human beings. The acute myocardial infarction (AMI) can occur in various parts of left ventricle and sometimes in right ventricle and atrium. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence rate of righ ventricular acute myocardial infraction (RV AMI) in company with lef ventricular inferior acute myocardial infarction (LV inf AMI), and the effect of them in one month mortality rate of these patients. Methods and materials: This study was done in cross – sectional and prospective and descriptive – analytic method and the informations of admitted patients with inf AMI were gathered in special froms and then analyzed by the statistical softwares like SPSS. Results: On the whole, 288 patients with inf AMI were studied, that 214 persons (74.30%) were male and 74 persons (25.70%) were female. The mean age of patients was 62.18 years (60.28 years in males and 67.64 years in females). The prevalence rate of inf AMI in company with RV MI was 22.91% (66 persons), and the one month mortality of all studied patients was 4.86% (14 persons), But it was 4.56% (3 persons) in inf AMI in company with RV AMI. Conclusion: As considered above, the male to female ratio was about 3 to 1, and the average age of females was considerably more than the males(67.64 years versus 60.28 years). Also, in this study the rate of LV inf AMI in company with RV AMI was 22.91%, that it seems lower than universal sources (approximately one third of the inf AMI). Meanwhile, the one month mortality in patients with inf AMI in company with RV AMI didn’t show increment in comparison with group that had inf AMI, solely.
