Response of breast cancer cells to radiotherapy
English Abstract
Radiotherapy is one of the selected treatment methods in the breast cancer. The cell colony forming ability and study of survival curve is acceptable assay for presentation of breast cancer cells responding to radiation treatment. In this study MCF-7 (human mammary epithelial) cells were cultured and classified to 400 and 2000 cells for colony forming assay. Irradiation was cobalt 60 and colony of exposed and control cells counted after two weeks incubation in 37 centigrade. The results show the large initial shoulder for survival curve of MCF-7 cells. Survival fraction after exposure to 2 and 8 Gy were 69 and 6 percent, respectively. Study of survival curve in breast cancer cells (MCF-7) showed moderate senility to radiation.
