مقدمه: از سال 1994 بهداشت باروری جایگزین تنظیم خانواده شده است که یکی از جنبه های آن نقش و جایگاه مردان می باشد. در کنفرانس بین المللی جمعیت و توسعه در سال 1994 در قاهره ، بهداشت باروری چنین تعریف شده است: سلامت کامل جسمی، روانی و رفاه اجتماعی که همه جوانب مربوط به سیستم تولید مثل، روند و عملکرد آن را در بر می گیرد. بهداشت باروری از نظر تعریف تمام مقاطع حساس و کلیدی را در تامین سلامت اعضاء خانواده به خصوص زنان و دختران از تولد تا مرگ در بر می گیرد.نقش مردان در بهداشت باروری به حکم مرد بودن آنها متنوع است: شریک جنسی برای زن، همسر، پدر، سرپرست خانواده، رهبری در جامعه و عموما" در دست داشتن سر رشته اقتصاد، اطلاعات، سیاستها و برنامه ها. توفیق برنامه های بهداشت باروری در گرو نگرش و عملکرد مردان است.یکی از ضرورت های اساسی مشارکت مردان، رعایت کردن منزلت انسانی و حقوق باروری زن و شوهر است.در واقع منظور از مشارکت مردان مسئولیت پذیری آنان در زمینه بهداشت باروری و حمایت از همسر برای مقابله با دشواریهای حیات جنسی و توفیق در این راه است.این مسئولیت پذیری از روابط جنسی سالم تا فرزندآوری، تغذیه کودک تا تربیت فرزندان و از به کارگیری روشهای جلوگیری ازحاملگی زن تا حمایت های دیگر را شامل می شود.گاهی در مورد مشارکت مردان منحصرا"موضوع وازکتومی مطرح می شود در حالی که این فقط یکی از روشهای مردانه است و به تنهایی به معنای مشترکت مردان در امر تنظیم خانواده نیست. در این روش مردانه هم لازم است زنان مشارکت نمایند یعنی برنامه وازکتومی برای آنان آموزش داده شود تا موجبات آماده سازی مردان را فراهم کنند.بخشی از آنچه زنان در حیات جنسی خود تحمل می کنند اگرچه ناشی از زن بودن و حاصل شرایط زیستی(بیولوژیک) آنان است ولی در صورتیکه با توجه و مشارکت مردان توام شود با دشواری کمتری همراه خواهد بود.مردان شریک باروری همسران خویش اند. اگر در تمامی مراحل پیش از بارداری، بارداری و زایمان و پس از آن،دوران شیردهی،هنگام ابتلاء زن به بیماریها و عوارض ناراحت کننده و در زمانی که حاملگی خواسته یا ناخواسته منجر به سقط شود در کنار همسر و یار او باشند تحمل سختی ها برای زن آسان تر می شود.مردان حتی در کشورهای توسعه یافته بسیار بیشتر از زنان در مواضع سیاست گذاری، تهیه و اجرای برنامه در رادیو و تلویزیون، نشر مطبوعات، رهبری مذهبی و مدیریت برنامه های اجتماعی قرار دارند و در خانه نیز معمولا" سرپرستی خانواده با آنها است.بنابر این گرایش آنان به مسئولیت پذیری در برنامه های بهداشت باروری بالقوه بر عملکردآنان در خانواده، محل های کار، در آموزش و تربیت فرزندان، در توانمندسازی زنان در کارهای خانه و پیش گرفتن رفتاری منصفانه و عدالت آمیز اثر می گذارد.از نتایج چنین رفتاری قائل شدن حق در خور برای زن از نظر تصمیم گیری در زمینه های گوناکون ازآن جمله تنظیم خانواده و تعداد فرزندان است.ارتباط زوجین نقطه عطفی در افزایش مشارکت مردان در برنامه های بهداشت باروری است.ارتباط آنها برای قبول مسئولیت و تصمیم گیری درست ضروری است.رابطه مردان در مورد در مورد روابط جنسی، بهداشت و تولید مثل و درک مسئولیت های مشترک آنان از الزامات مهم است تا مردان و زنان را شرکایی برابر در امور زندگی، اجتماعی، کاری و زندگی خصوصی بنماید.نقش مرد در در برقراری عدالت در میان دو جنس مهم و اساسی است زیرا در همه جوامع و تقریبا" در همه مراحل زندگی قدرت غالب در دست مردان است. از این رو بهبود ارتباط میان زن و شوهر درباره موضوعات مربوط به رفتارهای جنسی و بهداشت باروری و شناخت مسئولیت های مشترک آنان اهمیت دارد تا این دو در حیات مشترک یا فردی خویش همواره یاور و شریک یکدیگر باشند. هدف: بررسی دلایل ضرورت مشارکت مردان در بهداشت باروری روش ها: پژوهش حاضر یک مطالعه مروری می باشد که با بررسی کتب و مقالات معتبر خارجی و داخلی از طریق جستجوی اینترنتی انجام گرفته است. نتیجه گیری: با توجه به نقش غالب مردان در عرصه های مختلف زندگی در اکثر جوامع و ایران آشناسازی مردان با جنبه های مختلف بهداشت باروری و نقش مهم آنها در زمینه اشاعه بهداشت باروری برای موفقیت در عرصه فوق ضروری می باشد.
