Title

The Frequency of Infants' Blood Culture Doubtful to Poisonous Sepsis in 17 Shahrivar Hospital of Rasht-Iran 1389

English Abstract

Background & Objectives: Sepsis is one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality in newborns. Blood culture in the university accepted standard Methods for sepsis diagnosis. The aim of this investigation was to determine the bacterial cause of sepsis in newborn hospitalized in the 17th Shahrivar hospital of Rasht, Iran , and subsequently determine their antibiotic susceptibility patterns. Methods: this study had done from November 2010 till March 2011,on a total of 742 hospitalized newborns who were diagnosed with sepsis were subject to Blood culture in 17 Shahrivar hospital of Rasht, Iran . we used ordinary culture circumference and Methods. Results: From a total of 742 patients and 58 positive Blood culture, 43 of them were Staphylococcus epidermidis , 6 one Eschrichia coli,5 Staphylococcus aureus and rest were Klebsiella, Psudomonas, Citrobacter (one for each of them). Conclusion: Staphylococcus Epidermidis was the most prevalent microbe which was separated from infants' blood culture and after that Eschrichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were at the second place. According to statistical data, there was no relation between bacteria's type and antibiotic sensitivity. But because much of our mass was Staphylococcus epidermidis and large amount of this bacteria was sensitive to ciprofloxacin ,cephlexine and vancomycin, we can use these antibiotics for preliminary experimental remedy of sepsis and also large number of these bacteria were resistant against penicillin, oxacyllin and erythromycin that their prescription isn't recommended
