One of these approaches is a training of problem-solving approach that can be effective in increasing mental health and treatment of psychiatric disorders. Self-control is also one of the proposed factors of psychological theories related to drug abuse. We will accordingly present studies that have been done with aim of determination of effectiveness of social problem solving training on self-controlling of Students at risk of addiction. Methods : This study is quasi-experimental intervention. Initially 500 freshman and sophomore high school students were selected from Schools of Meshkin Shahr and then got evaluated using the talent addiction scale. Among the student whose scores were higher than 21 in the talent addiction scale, 50 subjects were selected, and randomly divided into two groups of 25. Subsequently to collect data on the efficacy of both groups, the scale of Grasmyk and colleagues self-control was used. Students in the intervention group were trained about social problem solving skills for eight sessions and each session lasted about one hour. Ultimately self-control of students was tested again. For the statistical analysis, univariate ANCOVA was used in SPSS18 software. Results : The mean and standard deviation score of self-control in the control group was 76/59 and 02/6 respectively. In intervention group the mean and standard deviation score in pre test was 63.64 and 4.34 also in post test was 67.16 and 4.06 respectively. So the impact of social problem solving training on Students at risk of addiction was significant and confirmed (P = 0/000). Conclusion : The results of study revealed that social problem solving skills training increased self-controlling of students and high self- controlled students have healthy behavior and less abuse of substance and alcohol. So it seems that empowerment of personal self control and social skills training should be a priority in the education system of the country.
