Answers to the comments on Air pollution, biological marker and lung function in children^

English Abstract

Readers’ comments First, the effects of air pollution on the lung function of children have been reported. Mölter et al. reported that exposure to PM10 and nitrogen dioxide (Mölter et al.) was associated with reduced forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1). In contrast, Gehring et al. (2013) published a review concluding that NO2, total nitrogen oxides (NOx), and PM2.5 were significantly associated with FEV1; but PM10 had no significant association with FEV1. Neisi et al. (2017a, b) could not recognize FEV1 as a significant indicator for predicting PM2.5, and the discrepancy of an association could be partly related to differences in the environmental monitoring methods. Firstthingisthatour studywasonBComparisonofnormal and dusty day impacts on fractional exhaled nitric oxide and lung function in healthy children^ not the effects of all air pollution on the lung function of children. Prior to our published paper, many studies have been done in these fields (effect of air pollution on the lung function of children)(Daryanoosh etal.2017),and after publishing,there has been a lot of researches in this field (Neisi et al. 2017b), andfurtherstudieswillbecarriedoutinthefuture.Contrastto thelaboratorialstudies(forexamplechemicalstudies)thatthe results of studies are usually consistent due to the fact that the influencing factors are constant. Novelty of epidemiological studies relates to the population and their health problem and changing these may change outcomes.
