Relationship between severity of pain and neonates physiological Index

Introduction: Neonates including term and preterm experiences pain like older children and adults. Almost all procedures create undesirable stress responses in neonates. The aim of study was determined relationship between severity of pain and neonates physiological index in Ardabil hospitals. Methods: This investigation was a descriptive correlation study that was performed on 30 infants was hospitalized in NICU. Assessing pain include physiological measures such as heart rate, respiratory rate and behavioral criteria consisted of crying time, change the face and the extremities of the scale NIPS. After recording demographic information and score of NIPS scale derived from the application of descriptive and chi-square tests were analyzed. Results: The result of study shows that there was a significant statistically differences between severity of pain and physiological index of neonates. Conclusion: The result of our study showed that there was positive relationship between severity of pain and physiological index neonates. Therefore we recommended using methods of pain relief during painful procedures in neonates
